If your club website was previously subscribed to the bronze hosting package and you have recently upgraded to Silver, this page will help you to set up your club website to make use of the new features available to you.
Although many of the new features will have been automatically implemented during the upgrade, there are some which need to be configured manually.
This tutorial is made of three parts:
- Creating a sophisticated calendar for your club events (similar to this one).
- Creating a page to display club members’ photo albums.
- Updating the club’s navigation menu to provide visitors with access to these new features.
Creating a calendar page for club events
First of all, go into the administration dashboard for your club website, then click on 'Pages' -> 'Add New'.

Enter a title for the club’s calendar page, such as 'Events Calendar':
Copy and paste the text below into the page editor:
In the 'Page Attributes', change the 'Parent' dropdown to 'Events'.
And then publish your page by clicking on the 'Publish' button.
Once you receive the 'Page Published' confirmation, you can go ahead and click on 'View Page' to see the calendar in action.
You can customize the design of your calendar by visiting your club’s administration dashboard and going to 'Events' -> 'FullCalendar Settings'.

With the Calendar page created, we're now going to create the members' albums page.
Creating a Gallery Page to Display all of the Club Members’ Photo Albums
Just as we did above, visit your club’s administration dashboard, and create a new page by visiting 'Pages' -> 'Add New'.
Give the page a title such as 'Member Albums'.
Copy and paste this shortcode into the text editor:

In the 'Page Attributes', change the 'Parent' dropdown to 'Gallery'.
Once you receive the 'Page Published' confirmation, you can go ahead and click on 'View Page'. If the example user Joe Bloggs is still a member of your site, his photo album will be displayed here. If Joe Bloggs has been removed, then this page will be empty until your club members start uploading photos.
Finally, we’re going to update the club’s navigation menu to give club members the ability to view your new calendar, create and upload their own photo albums, and view the gallery of all club members’ albums.
Updating the Club’s Navigation Menu
Open your club’s administration dashboard, and go to 'Appearance' -> 'Menus'.
Select the 'Default Silver Menu' from the drop down and click 'Select'.
If you scroll down and have a look at the menu, you will see it already has menu items called 'Member Albums' and 'Events Calendar'. At the moment these don’t do anything because when that menu was created, those pages didn’t exist. Go ahead and remove both of the 'Member Albums' and 'Events Calendar' menu items.
Once removed, your menu should look like this:
We're now going to add new menu items which link to your new pages. In the 'Pages' widget, select your Events Calendar, and Member Albums pages, then click on 'Add to Menu'.
Scroll to the bottom of the page, and you will see that two menu items have been added to the menu.
Drag the 'Member Albums' menu item up so that it sits between the 'Club Gallery' and 'My Albums' menu items, like this:
Drag the 'Events Calendar' menu item so that it sits above the 'Events List' menu item, like this:
Scroll to the bottom of the page, make sure the 'Primary Menu' option is checked, then click on 'Save Menu'.
Now that we've created the menu, we need to make it active on the front-end of the website. To do this, go to 'Appearance' -> 'Widgets'.
Open the widget holder called 'Navigation Bar' which can be found on the right hand side. In the 'jQuery Mega Menu' options, select the 'Default Silver Menu' from the drop down and click on Save.
The next time you visit your club website, you will see that the navigation bar has been updated and both you and other club members have access to the new calendar, as well as being able to upload photos.
Now that you're using the silver hosting package, you can adopt the methods learnt above to create multiple forums, such as:
